Description

the purpose of a description question is to show content (images, videos, text, etc) with no scoring or grading.
http://docs.moodle.org/20/en/Description_question_type

for example if you want to show a picture just above a matching question. i know that there's an "Enrich question" zone in where you can do this, but in my case it would be much better if i could just create a "description question" and insert the images there and then drag that question above the scoring questions such us multiple choice, matching, etc.

in my case, most of the time the image that i have to show is not only related to 1 question but to more than 5. so for example if i create a multiple question and use the "Enrich question" zone, that will confuse the user when taking the test because he will think that the image is related only to that question and not to the following ones.

thank you very much, i hope you can include this new feature soon.

to clarify, you need a kind of 'structured test', where a segment of questions is related to one (preceding) introduction?

(There were some thoughts and discusions about such tests in the past.)

i'm supporting such an idea as i can be able to construct (well organized, structured) complex exam with this kind of 'question' (tipical final exam).

On the other hand, i can achieve the pretty same effect with a series of simple quizes, that can be integated into LP to gain structure and complexity if the latest is needed.

  • Subject changed from is there a way to create a "description" question like moodle has? to Implement a way to create a "description" question like moodle has? (media question)
  • Category set to Exercises
  • Status changed from New to Feature implemented
  • Assignee set to Julio Montoya
  • Target version set to 2.0
  • % Done changed from 0 to 100

We developed this feature already for 1.10, but due to database changes (a "parent question" field), we cannot add it to a minor version lik 1.9.6.

You should be able to try it out in a week or so on http://unstable.chamilo.org/

We called it the "Media" question, and you can add a video or any multimedia content, then define that some questions have that "media question" as parent. From there on, everytime a question with a "Media" parent appears, it "calls" for the other children to be shown as a group.
