Description

Chat log for course chat works well, but chat in groups is not logged.

Bug or should it be this way?
I ask, because the folder under documents says chat logs (plural).

Thanks

I can still see the bug. Please be extra careful to understand the bug before closing! (at the same time, Alex could have been more precise - this report doesn't match the rules expressed in Howto report a bug)

To reproduce:
  • create a course (ABC)
  • create 2 groups with 3 seats each (group 0001 & group 0002)
  • subscribe 6 users to course
  • subscribe 3 users to each group
  • disconnect
  • connect as one of the 6 users
  • enter the ABC course
  • enter your group (0001 or 0002, depending on the user)
  • click the chat icon
  • talk
  • disconnect
  • reconnect as admin
  • go to ABC
  • go to documents
  • go to "Chat conversations history" folder
  • there is no conversation history for what you wrote inside the group

The normal behaviour should be that the "Chat conversations history" folder should have a file called "messages-group0001-2013-02-16.log.html" or something like that, containing the chat conversation.

Hello Yannick,

okay, will be more precise in the future!
As described, yes, still no group chat logging.

So, the main question is:
is there any test case scenario?

I mean, before releasing a new stable version, are there some use cases which are done?

If no, well, i will write some :-)

Hi Alex,

We don't have any use cases, no. I think we had a bunch of these in the past, but Chamilo is so massively huge already that I don't think it is humanely possible to generate use cases for everything that we have until now. But we can certainly start to do it if we have some additional help.

There are, however, new unit tests starting to appear all over Chamilo: http://testing.chamilo.org/job/chamilo-lms-1.9/
but these are still a long distance away from providing a full cover of what we have.

If you start writing use cases, I think the right place to do so would be this wiki. I created an entry and a few categorization proposals for that here: Use_cases. Feel free to fill those up.

Following the steps in comment # 5,
if working properly, being recorded chat logs group within the group folder chat_files and is as follows:
courses/ABC/document/Grupo_0001_groupdocs/chat_files/messages-2013-02-18_grid-1.log.html
To view it you have to login as admin, and follow the following path:
ABC/Grupos/Área del grupo Grupo 0001/Documentos/ Historial de conversaciones en el chat.

Thanks for the details and tips
