Add certificates to the gradebook
Updated by Stefaan Vanbillemont almost 10 years ago
There is a very basic implementation of the gradebook made by Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels. The code is not in the SVN yet. We have a very small analysis ready (see attachment for schematic overiew) I think Hans hopes that he will receive an internship student to work on that subject. So we have to wait on that.
Basicly we should work in the same direction as the gradebook in Dokeos 1.8.6 but rework it to the new philosophy. So here we go. The gradebook should consist of two parts (external grades and internal grades).
The first part (external grades) can be delivered by CSV/XML upload but we should keep in mind the build a small framework for this to make sure that grades coming from, for example student administration servers, can also be accepted.
The second part (internal grades) should be an overview (per installed application) of grades you earned/received in specific locations per application. For example: all grades/marks you collected in the Courses application with a view per Course. Then the e-portfolio application with all marks received over there.
Inside the different applications we should provide a 'Gradebook tool'. In each course, in the e-portfolio application in general. This is in fact a limited view of the general gradebook application but included in a specific location (like Course XYZ)
Grades should be collected on each publication inside the platform. Is it a document, a link or a forum. The 'grading'-framework should be very flexible. Administrator settings should be present to limit the content types which you can grade. I don't know if we can make use of one central database table to store all grades of the entire system? That can/will become enormous over time.
Certificates are just a 'print' of those overviews in my opinion. Of course, different prints should be available.
All remarks are welcome!

- Target version changed from 2 to 3
Ok .. we will have two internship student (from Feb 2010 until May 2010) that will contiunue the work on the reporting framework and develop the gradebook/certificates parts. So this should be finished by the end of May.
