Description

Hello,

as suggested in the chamilo-dev list I am opening this issue.
While testing versions 1.8.8.4. and 1.9 on Android devices I realized that I can not write on the boxes with the FCKeditor. I tested it in:
- Forums (creating a new thread)
- Course description (insert a description)
- Announcements (creating an announcement)

It doesn't work in any of them.
I tried with Opera Mini 7.0.2 and also with the default Android internet browser 2.2.1

The Android version is 2.2.1 FROYO on a Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone

written on android 2.3.4 with opera mobile 11.0. can confirm that fckeditor works. ckeditor is but problematic. can use all the controls from toolbar but virtual keyboard is not initiated when trying to edit text in wysiwyg mode. html mode is working. default browser (dolphin) is not usable at all.

Sorry for the delay,

editor is not working with any of the two addresses with Opera Mini. With the Android browser it also doesn't work in the first case, in the second one I am getting the following screen:

  • Tracker changed from Bug to Feature

Since generally (not only in Chamilo) FCKeditor/CKEditor doesn't seem to work in Android browsers, I propose that any user should be able to turn off the rich text editor for entering plain text. Optionally this could also be included in the browser sniffer functionality of Chamilo for automatically disabling FCKeditor when the OS is Android. It could also be useful to add an option in the user settings for choosing the default editor as FCKeditor or plain text.

I agree with that change: "add an option in the user settings". Moving to 1.10 due a DB change for this feature.

Ckeditor 4.5.0 already works in android (chrome browser) it can be tested here:

Doesn't work for me.
When editing a course introduction, for example, I simply get a textarea with no CKeditor options (tested in Chrome 43.0.2357.93 on Android 4.3)

Did you tried in unstable.chamilo.org?

You have to have the latest version of ckeditor.

Yes, that's what I meant: I tried it on unstable.chamilo.org, so unless there is an issue with caching of the previous ckeditor version on my mobile browser, it doesn't work for me.

With Firefox for Android, it works for me (not with Chrome).

It's working for me on an Android tablet with Chrome, so I'm marking this as solved. Thanks.
