The Xapian search feature is currently a bit frozen by the fact that the php-xapian bindings are not packaged into Debian/Ubuntu anymore, but if a search has to be implemented, it should re-use the Xapian feature, which is already available for:
  • documents
  • exercises
  • learning paths
  • links

It might have to be reviewed though. It is in main/inc/lib/search if I remember well.

Actualy the plugin is already done - and was done using standard sql like commands I am afraid. I believe it will still be useful for others as it was a common request done by quite many people.

I will have a look at Xapian though to see if we can use it - keeping in mind production runs under Solaris so I will need to check first with them.

Well it was done several months ago for D. 1.8.8. Don't think I will have time to integrate xapian.

The plugin should show courses that are open to the world when a user is not logged in.

Right now when I search something I can subscribe to a course.

I didn't know that. Nice use case. Chamilo runs on Solaris, yeaaaah! :-)

Anyone opposes the closing of this task now? I'm fine with it and so is Julio apparently...
