the usability of the course-wiki in Chamilo should be comparable with online wikis such as wikispaces.

The last refactoring of the wiki a few months ago by hans already included a lot of usability like wikipedia. However it was NEVER the intention to completly rebuild a mediawiki into chamilo 2.x. I believe that the current wiki is already very usable as it is now. Ofcourse specific (small) remarks can always be changed, but i believe that the global structure is good.
