Description

See the file .../dokeos/main/conference/get_translation.lib.php

There I have done a change within the function get_language_file_as_xml(), SVN#20725, FS#306.
The aim of this change is language files to be used correctly without dependency of the suffix "_unicode" to some language identificators.

Please, revise this change, you may accept or reject it.

Hi Ivan,

The problem is that some languages exist in both tendencies (_unicode and non-_unicode). I didn't check the patch, but did you think about that case?

I intentionally did the code to work with unicode and non-unicode versions of the language files. I expect this patch simply to work with all the files. I don't know however whether the Flash object for the Conference tool really supports UTF-8 or some other Unicode-kind of encoding. This is what I wanted to be checked for some non-Latin language.

I want to mention something off-topic.
The site http://i18n.dokeos.com has been set to be UTF-8, this is Ok. Simply place all the language files there (unicode, non-unicode), as they are at the moment, without any additional processing. Enable all the languages from the administrators' page and watch what will happen...

... Oh, also enable the iconv php-extension on the server.

Ivan, I'm not sure what you mean, but I have installed a new portal in French on my computer (with iconv), enabled all languages, switched to runasimi, and everything seems to work naturally...

Yes, I expect that. I am curious about the video-conference, whether this feature will work with arbitrary languages or not. I looked again at the proposed here code, it looks good, but I am not able formally to check it.

We are probably going to switch to a DimDim integration, as we have not enough resources to make anything else than maintain the videoconference tool, and obviously the public is not ready to contribute to the development of the tool so... we'll see how it goes.

Moving this to 1.8.6.1. Not urgent for now.
