Given the functionality, architecture and the already built-in support for different course / tool views in 2.0, this should actually be fairly easy to do. Could you elaborate on your definition of "timeline" though? (maybe you have a visual example or approximation somewhere?) Just so we know whether we're talking about the same thing ...
