Description

This is a really tiny little thing. Nevertheless, i think it should be changed. Indeed, a MCQ is probably never made of only 2 possible answers. Why not defaulting this to 4? Or at lest give the trainer/administrator the possibility to adjust this setting...

It is subjective matter, yes. I vote for the default number of answers to be 4, hard-coded, without opening a new setting.

Thanks for the support ;-)

Honestly I have never seen a MCQ with 2 or 3 answers. Only 4. It is also the default for all French language tests (TCF, TEF, etc.) and probably many other tests.

Where can the default number of questions be set?

#4

Updated by Ivan Tcholakov almost 9 years ago

  • Status changed from New to Assigned
  • Assignee set to Ivan Tcholakov
  • Target version set to 1.8.8 alpha

I don't see objections about changing the default value. So, I am going to change the initial number of answers for the type "question with multiple correct answers" from 2 to 4.

  • % Done changed from 0 to 80

Is this what you wanted, Oliver?

i truly believe it makes more sense from a pedagogical point of view to set the default value to 4.

thanks again, Ivan!

I am attaching images with explanation what was changed so far. I am going to make yet another change.

This is it, right?

I don't agree with the YES/NO options in MCQ. Most QCM, especially for language tests, offer 4 possible answers.

YES, this last change gets the job done. 4 answers by default. Saves 2 clicks per question ;-)

  • Status changed from Assigned to Needs more info

I need an approval here from Julio or from Yannick.

Here are the changes so far:

Question type "multiple choice", the initial number of questions has been changed from 2 to 4 (requested by Oliver)
http://code.google.com/p/chamilo/source/detail?r=5273d6093c37399479d3f76939cef2e7ed92e66b&repo=classic

Question type "multiple (correct) answers", the initial number of questions has been changed from 2 to 4 (IMO this change is needed too in addition to the previous one)
http://code.google.com/p/chamilo/source/detail?r=4347aed08292c18d7291f4cb4da9b22b1972fac1&repo=classic

For closing this task I need a decision whether these two changes should stay or not.

maybe a compromise could be to let users chose between 2, 3 or 4 answers...

i have to see any language examen with less than 4 possible answers. all current French exams (TEF, TCF, DELF/DALF, TFS) use 4 answers. most English examens use 4 answers too simply because 2 answers is just too easy.

  • Status changed from Needs more info to Feature implemented
  • % Done changed from 80 to 100

I think, hard-coded 4 answers for multiple-answers question is a good enough solution. No complications are needed. I am closing this task.
