The platform wide search function is really too basic to be very useful.
*It would be a good thing to make it an admin setting whether objects are standard set as searchable or not, some objects types could possibly be excluded. Personally I am very much in favour of setting this standard on, but I can imagine that in some environments this could be different.
*It should be possible to exclude/inlude certain types of objects from a search, or to select only one or more particular types (if you are interested in exercises & test e.g., you do not want the whole lot). Also, it is difficult to imagine that anyone would like to search platform wide for announcements, calendar events and some other smaller object types (cf. also exclude option in admin section).
*If you have more rights than just search, it would be nice to be able to directly use these rights (e.g. view: should enable one to view the object itself, etc.). If this is hard on performance a 'more' button with each object would make sense: showing you what your rights are, and if you have more rights: a direct link to the object itself.
